(Centre will be closed on statutory holidays and Saturdays on a long weekend)

Primary Breast Health Educator – Vietnamese Community

 Responsibilities:         

1)      to be available to attend training sessions

2)      to answer questions pertaining to relevant community on breast health

3)      to set up, organize and facilitate breast health workshops and displays

4)      to organize and set up screening mammogram service for community members

5)      to create ads, promotional items and brochures on project

6)      to be available to attend educator meetings and advisory committee meetings

7)      to be available to guide and consult with volunteers/peer health educators

8)      to write reports of the community being served

9)      to complete and file all kinds of documents required for administration and reports

10)  to help translate educational materials

 

Skills and Qualifications:       

1)      fluency in Vietnamese and be able to understand and communicate in English

2)      health or education related experience or willingness to learn

3)      desire to share information on breast cancer and screening

4)      ability to speak to a variety of women

5)      comfortable in presenting or answering information

6)      good organizational and communication skills

7)      ability to operate audiovisual equipment or willingness to learn

8)      provide own transportation

 

Other:  Flexible time schedule, evening and weekend work required.

 

Salary:  $21 per hour, 10 hours/month

 

Accountability:   1) Reports to Advisory Committee and ASSIST Community Services

Centre, Breast Health Project Coordinator

                         2) Must undergo security check at own expense
