Responsibilities:
1) to understand and implement the mission of the project
2) to be available to attend training sessions
3) to answer questions pertaining to relevant community on breast health
4) to set up, organize and facilitate breast health workshops and displays
5) to organize and set up screening mammogram service for community members
6) to encourage and assist women with mammograms
7) to meet on a regular basis for outreach activities
8) to create ads, promotional items and brochures on project
9) to be available to attend educator meetings and advisory committee meetings
10) to work closely with project partners (Screen Test, Cross Cancer Institute, Canadian Cancer Society and Multicultural Health Brokers Co-op)
11) to be available to guide and consult with volunteers/peer health educators
12) to write 3 interim reports and 1 final report of the community being served
13) to complete and file all kinds of documents required for administration and reports
14) to help translate educational materials
Skills and Qualifications:
1) fluency in Spanish and be able to understand and communicate in English
2) health or education related experience or willingness to learn
3) desire to share information on breast cancer and screening
4) ability to speak to a variety of women
5) comfortable in presenting or answering information
6) good organizational and communication skills
7) ability to operate audiovisual equipment or willingness to learn
8) provide own transportation
Other: Flexible time schedule, evening and weekend work required.
Salary: $21 per hour, 20 hours/month
Accountability:
1) Reports to Advisory Committee and ASSIST Community Services Centre, Breast
Health Project Coordinator
2) Must undergo security check at own expense
